G'day Birders, I had a short work trip west of the sandstone curtain last
week, to Molong and Bathurst, central NSW. The first highlight was a pair of
Superb Parrots flying over the motel at 6 am. While these are not unusual at
this location, they are always good to see, even if only briefly.
However, later in the day I was more than a little surprised to see a male Crimson Chat sitting on a fence beside Three Rivers Road (near the intersection with Boomey Ln). It was great to see such a stunning bird with a green background, rather than the drab browns of further west where they are normally seen. Interesting to note that another pair has turned up in Sydney, maybe they are irrupting as they are wont to do.
