Marj and I had close views of a single Red-backed Kingfisher just inside the
entrance of You Yangs Forest Park back on 7th November 1982. I never
reported the record and wish I had, as I've heard of none since, apart from
yours.

Hi birders,

Ruth and I went to the eucalyptus plantations, immediately to the west of
The You Yangs, west of Melbourne, today to look for the White-backed Swallow
that's been reported there recently. Unfortunately we didn't see the WBS,
but we did see both a small group of White-browed Babblers and a single
Red-backed Kingfisher. As far as I can tell from Birds Australia's Birdata
site, and the printed version of the atlas, these would be the first records
of both species at this location, and the only records this far south for
both species. Does anyone else have any other records of sightings of these
species either at The You Yangs, or this far south?
