Greetings,I was in Cairns yesterday on the Esplanade and was disturbed by how few waders there were. The tide was a good one for observation as it was coming in the whole time I was there. The Bird Life International moto of "Keeping the Common Birds Common" seems to be a bigger challenge to us all than it fisrt appeared. A photographer was lucky with a Buff-banded Rail which was demanding its photo be taken, turning this way and that and looking straight at him.
