Since July I've been out running most mornings at dawn covering 10-20-30 kilometres through prime Koel habitat in central Sydney, I'd been looking forward to hearing a very early Koel, but no luck. Channel-bills on 3 occasions, the first 2 weeks ago, but no Koels until yesterday when I heard a female at Lakemba while watching my son play cricket. But today 6 Koels, a male heard at dawn and a female seen later in the day in Glebe, a male calling in Moore Park, 2 males calling in Lilyfield and a male calling at Sydney University. Andrew |
