Went out to Penrice Saltfields yesterday to look for the Tern reported
last week. It took a bit of sorting from the thousands of Whiskered
Terns flying and roosting along the Phalarope Track but we eventually
located both an Arctic Tern and a Common a couple of times as they
landed amongst the Whiskered.
Grant's picture helped quite a bit.
It was also good to note the high(ish) numbers of other waders, namely
Sharpies, Red-necked Stints, Red-capped Plovers, quite a few Curlew
Sandpipers, etc so early in the season. Oh, and one Pied Oystercatcher.
Didn't see any Banded Stilts although quite a few Black-winged were
around.

Thanks to Colin Rogers, Mike, and Grant for the heads up on the Tern.

Tony Russell and Enid Pascoe.
