Hi all,
Rainbow Bee-eaters have arrived in the Capertee Valley, yesterday 7th
Sept. Rufous Songlarks and large numbers of Dusky Woodswallows are
also around.
One of the breeding Regent Honeyeaters has lost its tail. Looks
strange, but seems to be getting around fine. There were 2
Plum-headed Finches amongst many Zebras at The Kurrajongs (opposite
the Goollooinboin gate).
Up in the Blue Mountains, we saw the first Flame Robin back at the
orchard on Shipley Plateau on 6th Sept (Flame Robins go down into the
valleys for winter). The next day, after the rain stopped, Tree
Martins were back too. The Rockwarblers at Evans Lookout seem to be
getting more and more tame with the two of them foraging within 6
inches of our shoes yesterday morning. Red-browed Treecreepers are
also currently at Evans Lookout.
The return spring migration of Yellow-faced and White-naped
Honeyeaters through the mountains is well underway.
Cheers,
Carol
