Hi all,

although not strictly a birding holiday, I still managed to see over 40 species, over 4 days. We were staying at Tyrolean Village (Rainbow Drive) near Jindabyne, on the shore of Lake Jindabyne. We were able to fit in two days skiing and also got to Guthega. We also stopped at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Canberra on the way back.

Here is the birdlist for the few days, in order of birds seen. (29th of August to 1st of September):

Superb Fairy-Wren - Groups seen around Tyrolean Village and at Royal Botanical Gardens.
Buff-rumped Thornbill - 2-4 seen feeding with fairy wrens near the house we were staying at.
Striated Thornbill - Seen around house, Guthega and Royal Botanical Gardens.
Brown Thornbill - Seen around house.
White-browed Scrubwren - Seen around house, beach and Royal Botanical Gardens.
Golden Whistler - One male seen around house on the first day.
Welcome Swallow - Seen around Tyrolean Village.
Grey Shrike-Thrush - Pair seen and heard around house.
Silver Gull - Many seen on Lake Jindabyne and Jindabyne township.
Little-black Cormorant - Seen on islands in Lake Jindabyne.
Little-pied Cormorant - Seen on lake.
Australian Raven - A few seen and heard, many at Royal Botanical Gardens.
Little Raven - Seen: EVERYWHERE!!! Flock of 30 at Guthega.
Wedge-tailed Eagle - One seen soaring around Hwy north of Tyrolean Village.
Striated Pardalote - Many seen in canopies of eucalypts in Tyrolean Village.
Crimson Rosella - Seen: EVERYWHERE!!! Pair at Interceptor Chairlift, in freezing, windy conditions.
House Sparrow - Many seen around Tyrolean Village.
Common Starling - Seen: EVERYWHERE!!!
Laughing Kookaburra - One seen in near beach.
Magpie-Lark - ...
Australian Magpie - Many seen, all 'white-backed' subspecies.
Pied Currawong - Seen: EVERYWHERE!!!
Eastern Spinebill - Pair at Tyrolean Village. Many at Royal Botanical Gardens.
White-eared Honeyeater - Quite a few along road leading into Tyrolean Village.
Flame Robin - Pair at Tyrolean Village, pairs seen along road to Perisher and many along road to Guthega. Practical abundant.
Yellow-faced Honeyeater - Only one seen along road leading into Tyrolean Village.
Silvereye - Many.
Gang-gang Cockatoo - Male and two females seen along road to Perisher and heard at Royal Botanical Gardens.
White-naped Honeyeater - One seen along road leading into Tyrolean Village.
Spotted Pardalote - Heard around Tyrolean Village.
Goldfinch - A few around Tyrolean Village.
Red Wattlebird - One seen around house and many at Royal Botanical Gardens.
White-throated Treecreeper - Seen at Guthega Power Station.
Lewins Honeyeater - Heard at Guthega Power Station.
White-bellied Sea Eagle - One seen fishing on lake.
White-fronted Chat - Group seen at Tyrolean Village.

Birds seen on the way to and from Jindy and at the Royal Botanical Gardens:

Nankeen Kestrel - Many seen along Federal Hwy.
Singing Bushlark - One seen in display flight in fields outside of Canberra.
Galah - ...
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo - ...
Straw-necked Ibis - One seen near Campbletown.
Australian Pipt - Many seen along Hwy between Cooma an Berridale.
Wedge-tailed Eagle - Many singles and one pair seen along Federal Hwy.
New Holland Honeyeater - Royal Botanical Gardens.
White-winged Chough - Many at Royal Botanical Gardens.
Satin Bowerbird - Two females seen at Royal Botanical Gardens.
