Yesterday afternoon (15/8) I had to go up at Mt Barker and while there I spent an hour at the Laratinga Wetlands and was fortunate to have good viewings of a very cooperative Australasian Bittern. With the bird at times only 30 ft away in the open I was able to study the plumage and see it in different poses. The only drawback was I didn't take the camera and with sunny breaks between showers could have got some good photos.
