Outside Katherine in the NT (quite) a few years ago there were some 
paddocks used to grow grain for the local dairy that ran within about 
15-20 metres away from a moderately busy rural road. One year there was 
an irruption of grass-hoppers in the area that (naturally) attracted 
quite a few raptors that would perch hunt from the transmission lines 
that ran alongside the road. Result - in one season I counted more than 
20 road-killed Brown Falcons - and most likely Kestrels as well - before 
I stopped counting...
