Hi all,
Haven't had a chance to post yet from last weekend but of interest
were a Swift Parrot seen (and more heard) in the northern section of
Capertee Valley, near the Port Macquarie Road junction (10th August).
Regent Honeyeaters are still along the river, at least 10-12 seen.
There is also a good flock of Turquoise Parrots coming in to drink
near Glen Davis every afternoon.
Flame and Scarlet Robins can be seen in the valley at the moment e.g.
lately there has been a small group of Flame Robins opposite The
Kurrajongs along the Glen Davis road. At Lake Wallace, Wallerawang,
there is a fantastic mixed flock of Flame Robins, Diamond Firetails,
Yellow-rumped Thornbills and others, feeding on the grassy areas. The
Musk Ducks have been putting on brilliant displays close to shore.
Up in the mountains the Rockwarblers were hopping around our feet
amongst the dusting of snow at Evans Lookout, early on Sunday
morning. A Grey Currawong was at the lookout too.
As usual for this time of year, lots of honeyeaters are feeding in
the banksias in the heathlands on Shipley Plateau and Narrow Neck.
Cheers,
Carol
