Hi all,
The Hunter BOC enjoyed another Seawatch off Nobbyâs rock platform, Newcastle,
on Sunday 27th July.
Â
Conditions were again a bit âgoodâ and although many birds were able to be
seen, most were on the horizon and unidentifiable. There was a long line off
spotting scopes aimed seaward that attracted the attention of some overseas
tourists on the promenade below who snapped some holiday snaps of us all
searching for close-in birds.
Â
Following is a list of birds identified (or near-identified) between 1400-1600.
Birds:
Black-browed Albatross â 5
Yellow-nosed Albatross â 6
Fluttering Shearwater - 100+
Fluttering-type Shearwater â 150+
Australasian Gannet â 11Australian Pelican â 1
Crested Tern â 5
White-fronted Tern â 6
Silver Gull â 15
Â
Mammals:
Bottlenose Dolphin â c. 25
