Hi all,
The Hunter BOC enjoyed another Seawatch off Nobby’s rock platform, Newcastle,
on Sunday 27th July.

Conditions were again a bit “good” and although many birds were able to be
seen, most were on the horizon and unidentifiable. There was a long line off
spotting scopes aimed seaward that attracted the attention of some overseas
tourists on the promenade below who snapped some holiday snaps of us all
searching for close-in birds.

Following is a list of birds identified (or near-identified) between 1400-1600.
Birds:
Black-browed Albatross – 5
Yellow-nosed Albatross – 6
Fluttering Shearwater - 100+
Fluttering-type Shearwater – 150+
Australasian Gannet – 11Australian Pelican – 1
Crested Tern – 5
White-fronted Tern – 6
Silver Gull – 15

Mammals:
Bottlenose Dolphin – c. 25
