Just received this report from Rory Chapple which backs up Dee Stojanovic's comments recently.  Obviously an excellent season for the area.

Hi Frank

Hope you?re well. Just thought I?d let you know of the birds up near Shark Bay at the moment. Between the Hamelin Pool Stromatolites and the Overlander Roadhouse the birds are as impressive as I?ve seen in any arid area. All of the arid nomads seem to have turned up including hundreds and hundreds of crimson chats, lots of pied honeyeaters, budgerigars, cockatiels, masked woodswallows, brown songlarks, hooded robins and some associated raptors ? eg Spotter Harrier?s nesting, sparrowhawks, hobbies and the like. It certainly show?s it?s been a good season! Worth a look if you or any other interested birders are up that way.

With it still raining up there and the wildflowers just hitting their straps it seems the show will go on for some time yet!

Regards
Rory Chapple
