John,
I just checked my copy which is the 2001 hardback version and realized that you
were asking for the new paperback version. In Ferguson-Lees & Christie (2001)
orientalis, ruficollis, torquatus, ptilorhynchus, palawensis and philippensis
are treated as subspecies of ptilorhynchus; celebensis and steerei as the two
subspecies of celebensis; steerei is not listed. Hopefully, someone with the
updated version will help you.

Dear Friends,
Could someone with access to a copy of Ferguson-Less,2006,Raptors of the
World, tell me on what page(s) he splits Eastern Honey-Buzzard Pernis
orientalis from Crested Honey-Buzzard Pernis ptilorhynchus and also Steere’s
Honey-Buzzard Pernis steerei from Barred Honey-Buzzard Pernis celebensis and
briefly summarize his justification for the splits. Also I believe he lists
all species and subspecies somewhere in the book. Can someone tell me on
which pages he lists
Pernis steerei steerei and
Pernis steerei winkleri
Many thanks,
John Penhallurick
