G'day John (and other recent list joiners).
Never let the thought that someone might "bite your head off" deter
you from posting a bona fide message to Birding Aus. The trolls and
cave bears that lurk in news groups are virtually harmless [unless
they know where you live].
The kerfuffles that go on in this newsgroup are like the waterfowl
squarking on the duckpond. There is a flurry of flying feathers then
everyone settles down as if nothing happened.
Regards, Laurie.

Well i seem to have started this ruckus so i thought i'd jump on the
subject line bandwagon. My post re the BBBQ'S was vague in the
directions department for two reasons. I was recently told about
birding aus by a very good friend and have only been on the mail
list for a couple of months. I regularly read peoples posts and due
to lack of information on location end up having to google up more
information just in case its close enough to get out there. I must
admit i do find this a little annoying! At the end of the day as
someone else has already said its only a couple of seconds out of my
life, but i do think(Including myself on saturday) that a lot of
people omit the finer details of there discoveries. Why Nikolas has
decided to have a near on melt down over my post i can only put down
to the bloke really, really, really wanting to see a bbbq. The second
reason i was vague was although i was excited about finding these
bird i didn't think it would generate all that much excitement. I
new they were very unreliable outside of Inskip but i didn't know
they were that rare around Brisbane. So i guess it was a bit of
inexperience with both birding aus and bbbq's that caused me to get
my head bitten off. I would like to apologise to all birding aus
members one last time for not being "professional" when posting and
want you all to know from now on i will include
place, town, city, state and country. I am considering including planet
as i would not want Nikolas boarding a space shuttle and heading for
Mars........Regards John Hammond
