Nathan,
They eat all sorts. But HANZAB pretty blatantly sums it up in the first 2 words
under the Food heading. It reads "Mainly animals".
When I was volunteering at the Territory Wildlife Park south of Darwin as a
zookeeper, we would toss the Bustard about 3 or 4 dead mice which it would
virtually inhale.

Subject: [Birding-Aus] Bustard Diet - Meat Eater?
Hi,
An aboriginal friend of mine in Karratha recently found 2 juvenile birds
(about 10cm in length) in a Bustards stomach a week ago. He also reported
that he once found a 40-50cm goanna in a Bustards stomach before too.
Has anyone else heard of these dietary components in Australian Bustards
before?
I would be interested to hear any similar reports.
Kind regards,
Nathan Waugh
Karratha
