I know what the poster from Brisbane means about the Brisbane population.
Many years ago when I lived in the Brisbane suburb of St Lucia, they almost
drove me to tears on many occasions with their constant noise.

That's why I was so thrilled to see them targeted by a Hobby six months ago at
the inner-west Sydney Canterbury railway station. And also why I was so
disappointed that it missed.

I've thought allot about that incident and am still perplexed as to why the
Hobby missed. Was it on a mission to check out the progress of fledglings or
was it on a mission to shut them up. It cruised up the railway line from the
east; spun around the tree they were in and then cruised back down the railway
line from where it came. One popped out of the canopy; saw that it was circling
around the outside of the canopy and ducked back down under the canopy. The
Hobby just cruised on without even a look back or sideways with an expression
that said to me "Damm Noisy Miners."

The other day one gave off a false alarm call and a Turtle Dove flapped off
into a weedy patch of discarded bigger ballast and froze for quite some time
before it realised that it was a false alarm: so the Hobby is probably still
around but I haven't seen it since the above incident.
