Last night I watched a pair of Masked Owls (I mainly saw quite a pale male) in
tall Eucalypt forest near Lake Baroon - north of Maleny in SEQ. The birds were
very actively calling to each other and I watched the male calling by the
roadside without disturbing it for over 15 mins (I used a spreadbeem and
watched the bird in the edge of it). This was my third time searching in this
general area (10hrs +); I knew things were looking good as I drove in and had
Tawny Frogmouth and Southern Boobook by the roadside. The Masked Owl started
calling around 7pm and I found its location about 15 mins. later.

I won't be giving out precise details as they are clearly breeding in this area.

Kind regardsRob Morris Brisbane, Australia
