We also had a Pictorella Mannikin (one bird only) on our property 5 km from Mareeba in North Queensland on May 2. Atlas record submitted. This would appear to be outside their recorded range in the Atlas book I think this is about 350km east of where they are often recorded in Georgetown (where actually saw about 20 the same weekend at the racecourse and Cumberland dam). I understand they have also been seen near the cost at Giru, south of Townsville. Either more observers are out and about or perhaps these birds are spreading/moving about a bit.
