The second honeyeater (unid friarbird on ABID) looks somewhat like the Dusky Friarbird (Philemon fuscicapillus) of Maluku (Halmahera, Morotai and Bacan) - particularly if it does have the reddish skin around the eye it seems to have. Given the trend in Maluku (just to the west of Papua) for orioles to be visual mimics of friarbirds (such as on Halmahera and Buru), perhaps the third image is of the friarbird's oriole *doppelgänger*??? Or perhaps the image resolution on the second image makes speculation somewhat unreliable ... -- ++++++++++++ Lawrie Conole 28 Reid Street Northcote, VIC 3070 AUSTRALIA lconole[at]gmail.com 0419 588 993 ==============================www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: ============================= |
