Dear Mat,
Your email was forwarded to me (I am not on the birding-aus list server). As
you will see from the Asia Pacific Shorebird Network Website, colour flag
page, http://www.shorebirdnetwork.org/leg-flags.html the bird was flagged on
the North Island of New Zealand. The three letters will provide more details
when you get a formal reply (your sighting has been passed on to the colour
flagging centre).
Interesting to see a New Zealand Red Knot, especially at this time of year
<> . Many thanks for reporting this

Subject: Brisbane - flagged Red Knot - meaning of BCL?
Hello
Does anyone know what "BCL" means on a white leg flag?
A nicely coloured-up Red Knot was wearing one at Wynnum (Brisbane) on
Friday.
Cheers
Mat
