Hi all

Walking on the spit at Augusta WA (near the river mouth) on 29th February 08 we saw a group of 42 Sanderling feeding in heaps of kelp and other debris on the sand. One bird had two flags on the right leg -orange upper and off white lower. Is this a Broome banded bird? We watched the bird for 10-15 minutes but could not see any leg band or numbers on the flags. Incidentally there was another Sanderling with its right leg missing.

On the same walk we also saw a double-banded plover lurking high on the beach near the dunes. (all this despite the number of dog walkers very close by)

I don't get much wireless broadband coverage here, so this is the first time I have been able to post anything

Alex Ferguson
