Hello all,
Update 1 from Cocos-keeling Islands and Christmas Island Feb March
2008.

Arrived on Cocos on Sun 24th and have seen:

3 Western Reef Egret (photographed)
15 Pin-tailed Snipe (photographed)
7 Saunder's Tern ((photogrpahed)

We have been on Christmas Island for 1 day and have seen.

3 Barn Swallow (photographed)
1 Schrenk's Bittern (photographed)
1 probable Chinese Pond Heron. (photographed)

We found the pond heron and took many long distance photos this morning (Sat).
We're heading out this afternoon to get closer pics.
Initially the first pond heron we saw had pink legs, then we went for a walk
and flushed another with yellow legs, so we could have two pond herons at the
CI Garbage tip!

I'll place another update next week.

Future trips:
Nov/Dec 2008
March 2009.

Cheers
Richard Baxter
