I had a fantastic day at home in suburban Canterbury(inner west Sydney)
yesterday. 270208.

The ants swarmed first thing in the morning giving the silvereyes, blue wrens,
willy wagtails(2), red wattlebirds, bulbuls. mynas, starlings and sparrows a
feast. It was the first time that I had noticed how agressive the bulbuls were
to the the wrens and silvereyes. Then a stranger turned up who was also
aggressed by the bulbuls. I've never seen this bird beore. It had all the
hallmarks of a robin's feeding habits so I thought female scarlett robin but
now I'm thinking a Spectacled Flycatcher but I also like the idea that it was a
White-browed Wood-swallow because that's what the colours look most like in my
Slater.

Then in the afternoon on the edge of the first failed storm front at around
2pm; a couple of Spine-tailed Swifts. No wonder thay have to beat their wings
so fast as that mini front went through very fast. Then the Koel youngster
showed itself off with not too much begging noises. It was left to itself in
next door's ripe cherry gurava.
