Hi Peter, Nice pics! What a stunning bird- thanks for sharing the pictures. Were they shot in the Brisbane area? I'm leaning towards it being a juvenile collared sparrowhawk too, due to its size and the square tail. Juvenile sparrowhawks are roughly the size of a Magpie (we have some in our area, who hunt in my yard sometimes). Cheers > > 1.
