Hi everyone, Latest thoughts by many are that the Cooktown Gull may be a Vega Gull Larus (smithonianus) vegae. But if we are to stand any chance of clenching the identity (without DNA analysis) we are going to need as many shots of 1st winter Slaty-backed Gull, American Herring Gull, Mongolian Gull and Vega Gull as we can find. So if you know of anyone with images, particularly of birds in flight that are considered correctly identified we would be most interested to view them and if willing I would be able to place them on a website with appropriate acknowledgements.
