Dear all
have the Grass Owls been seen near Brisbane Airport recently ? e.g. this summer
? - I've looked a couple of times adjacent to the Gateway Motorway opposite the
end of Toombul Rd. I'd be interested to know if they are elsewhere or whether
I'm looking in the right area? - approximately 50% of this area is now a lake
not grassland!
Whilst I'm on the topic of owls, Greg Anderson and I had a calling Masked Owl
(heard a number of times over a 15 min period) at the junction of the Maleny -
Kenilworth Road and Boolumba Creek Rd. At one point it flew over our head
calling - but we didn't see it! This was at the end on Jan 08. I'll be looking
again soon......
Also there are up to 6 Red-backed Button Quails calling (last Sat and yesterday
between 5.30-6.30am) in grasslands near to Lake Samsonvale - no views though.
Tom Tarrent and I also had Painted (in adjacent wooodlands), King and Brown in
