Dear Birders,
I am planning a trip to Mt Isa and the gulf area in May and would appreciate
any advice that I can receive. I have scoured the Birding-Aus archive and am
aware of the gazetteer on the Birding Queensland site and have a copy of T&T. I
intend going south from Mt Isa to Dajarra, then north to Cloncurry, Normanton,
Karumba, Gregory River, Lawn Hill and back to Mt Isa.
My target species are :-
The grasswrens - Are there any specific sites otherthan those mentioned in T&T
Rufous-crowned Emu-wren - I intend going south from Mt Isa to Dajarra and
Dutchess - are there any specific suggested sites here or nearby?
Purple-crowned Fairy-wren - I gather Lawn Hill is a fairly reliable proposition.
Arafura Fantail - There are reports of this species around Lawn Hill - any
suggestions of where? Are there any other suitable areas on this route?
Flock Bronzewing - any specific waterholes to watch?
Zitting Cisticola - Karumba is said to be a suitable area for them - any
comments?
Spotted Nightjar - said to be al over this area - any specific suggestions?
Regards
