Hi All
A different slant on this topic.
Some service stations in the remote Top End, for instance along the Arnhem
Highway, will not sell Opal fuel. So although a huge effort has been made
to ban it in Gunbalunya, Arnhem Land, sniffers are either driving or
hitchhiking into Jabiru or down the highway to find the stuff.
Petrol sniffing has a serious impact, not only on the sniffers, but the
elderly who find themselves having to deal with brain-damaged kids,
offspring of those kids, and rife venereal disease. I¹ve relatives die from
petrol sniffing etc. Can you imagine an elderly lady breaking her heart
over the coffin of her young daughter as it lies in a pink, typical teenage
girl¹s bedroom. I was there. The lady is my older sister.
If you are visiting Kakadu, please attempt to hire a diesel. Else buy your
petrol well and truly before Kakadu.
Thank you,
Denise L Goodfellow
