Greg and anyone else heading that way,
My website has some of the information you were looking for,
including a list of accommodation in the valley with my comments
regarding each, a rough map of the valley's location and detailed
directions for getting there, and information on what maps are
available and useful for the area. There's also an outline of the
various habitats in the valley and which birds you'll find in each,
but I haven't yet written detailed information on all the birding
sites in the valley, though much of this is just searching along the
roadsides unless you have access to private property. Rockview no
longer offer accommodation but there are plenty of other good options.
http://www.bmbirding.com.au/valley (go to page 3 for the
accommodation and maps info).
For anyone who might not know, the town of Capertee is not actually
in the Capertee Valley, nor is Dunn's Swamp which is actually
sandstone habitat with birds more similar to the Blue Mountains.
Hope the website helps for future visits.
Cheers,
Carol

Gooday birders
Have been going through the Birding aus archives looking for birding
locations at Capertee Valley. I went there yesterday, a long drive from
Newcastle, got to Dunns Swamp and saw Rock warblers etc but was a bit
lost in the Capertee area, and not sure where to go, due mostly to lack
of a good map. Can anyone point me to a nice little map of the area
please showing the road and creek names or should I get a topo map? Also
does anyone have the name and number of accommodation in the Valley
itself. Tried to find a number for people at "Rockview", but no luck.
