G'day Greg, the road into Newhaven is a fairly good road because it is a common use road which goes through NH and to an aboriginal community. Most roads on NH are fairly good, there are a few sections of sandy patches but overall quite good. The Tanami road can be rough in sections but if you are sensible and drive accordingly then you should be ok. A subaru should be fine but it really depends on conditions at the time you visit and your driving capabilities. We are having some rain at the moment, not much but it can soon turn the roads into boggy strips that need 4wd. I suggest you call the rangers or managers there and speak with them prior to your visit. Cheers!!!!!!!!!
