Dear Friends,

I just got this inquiry from a colleague in Finland asking for an email
address for Brian Coates. Can anyone supply it for them?

Dear Colleague,

I turn to you because I have lost the e-mail address of Brian J. Coates whom
I met two years ago in PNG. While leading a birding tour in PNG I
photographed an Owlet-Nightjar at Kumul Lodge near Mount Hagen, PNG. Local
bird guide told it is a Mountin Owlet-Nightjar, but I have learned that one
cannot really trust in their identifications.Regarding Mountin and
Arcibold´S O-N illustrations and knowledge are very scanty. In literature
(Nightjars, Cleere & Nurney) Archibold´s shows shows white string of pearls
on tip of the greater coverts in the wing (like my bird) but Mountin shows
nothing of the kind. On the other hand pale breast and belly strongly
suggest Mountain Owlet-Nightjar.

I am about the publish this photo in my book which is closing in a week but
would like to be 100 % sure of the bird´s identity. You are free to pass
this photo to Brian.

I very much appreciate if you can help me a bit. I guess nobody has enough
info about these birds so far,

Best wishes

Lasse J Laine
