Camera Lens Query

I used to know a fellow who complained that his 2000 mm telephoto was not long enough for nature shots, yet there are professional nature photographers who do not use lenses longer than 300 mm. One think to consider with long telephoto lenses is how much weight can or are willing to carry. A couple of years ago I bought a Sigma 170-500 mm. I had to start weight-training to be able to use it hand-held.

Laurie,

what camera are you using and I assume you want it for birds, in which case you'll never have "enough" focal length.
