The nest egg program is one of many run either by DOC or as partnerships. Programs that captive rear for wild release include the Black Stilt, the Blue Duck, Takahe and Pateke. Other variations on this theme include the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust, shorebirds by the Isaacs in Christchurch, the work of Miranda and Tiri Tiri Trusts and numerous others. I wonder given our challenges in species survival when we will move to such programs?
