Thanks to those who gave us clues on birding during waiting for flights
at LA airport.
We spent several hours at Ballona Creek, a US $25 taxi ride away, and
saw some 40 species. I was wrapped in the ducks like Bufflehead and Surf
Scooter which were an entree to Belize and Costa Rica for which I am
still preparing the bird list. It appears March time is more productive
and the warblers/vireos/flycatchers are a real pain to ID and we must
have given up on at least 30 but it was a great time and a real
experience just trying to see, let alone ID, the rain forest skulkers.
Cheers Chris
