Egg Collectors?

Hi Evan,

I must say I don't know a lot about the industry, but as I understand there
are two main purposes for egg collecting. The first is collecting eggs for
smuggling - they are kept incubated and are easier to get out of the country
than live birds. I'm guessing mostly parrots are targeted by this. The
other reason is people who collect blown eggs (like you see in a museum
collection), for the sake of collecting them. It's kind of like stamps,
except less environmentally responsible. There was a recent story about the
death of one of the most notorious of these in Britain recently:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1784224,00.html

This kind of behavior has also led people to steal from museums before as
well.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the subject than me will continue
the discussion.

Regards,
Chris
