Hi Peter,

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you are asking for, but you can add a
google map to your images using Picasa. (see my site at
http://picasaweb.google.com/aviceda most images should have a location map
attached.)

Not only is the software free but you get a very generous storage capacity
for uploaded images without payment.
