My ornithologist daughter, a Sydney friend and I (all birders) are doing
exactly the same thing in mid November this year and have booked at a place
12 km from O'Reilly's. They have 3 different sized chalets all self
catering and are much more suitable both for children and for meals. The
owner is Geoffrey Carter and although I have only corresponded with him by
email, he has been really helpful. The place is called Cainbable Mountain

Greets all,
my wife and I were thinking about a trip to rels in Tamworth next (not
this) Christmas, and I have always been interested in O'Reilly's, but it is
very pricey. Does anyone know of similar and perhaps less expensive
options in that area for Bowerbirds etc that would also be happy to take a
6 yo (as he will be by then).
Hoping soon to blog some stuff on Far North QLD birding from past few hols
there.
