Had a good 3 hours of walking and birding this morning (21st October 2007)
around Greystanes and Prospect (approx. 40km west of Sydney CBD)

At the new nature reserve at Pemulwuy (a recent subdivision of
Greystanes/Prospect) there was a male White-winged Triller, Horsfield's
Bronze-cuckoo and a pair of Black-shouldered Kites. There was a
Red-whiskered Bulbul here with a 'white' crest.

Along Hyland Rd in Pemulwuy saw 2 Masked with at least 35 White-browed
Woodswallows overhead, a young male Collared Sparrowhawk, several Fan-tailed
and Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoos, 3 Leaden Flycatchers, lots of Brown
Gerygones and 3 to 4 Rufous Fantails in the privet along Prospect Creek, a
few Scarlet Honeyeaters feeding on the numerous mistletoe flowers, a
Striated Pardalote nesting, Double-barred Finches, and heard also
Bar-shouldered Doves, Chestnut-breasted Mannikins and a Brown Quail.

I also made a brief visit to Prospect Reservoir where the waterbird numbers
were very low despite lots of water. Saw only 10 Great Crested Grebes, a
male Darter, a White-bellied Sea-eagle, a Whistling Kite and heard both a
Sacred Kingfisher and a Crested Shrike-tit around the picnic area.
