While it's unlikely that any of the birding societies in Australia will
say anything, the Australian Conservation Foundation has the following
indicator on its election scorecard -
http://www.acfonline.org.au/articles/news.asp?news_id=1465 :
Protect forests, oceans and the natural environment
End forest destruction, protect our oceans, increase the natural
reserve system and reward environmental stewardship in rural areas.
Presumably there is a correlation between action in these areas and the
protection of bird populations.
Regards, Laurie.

Hi everyone
Birding-aus isn't the right forum for a petition unless it is directly
related to Australian wild birds. As Graham has already pointed out,
there are other ways of publicising these things.
Also, if anyone does have a petition they think is relevant to this
forum, then I would appreciate you asking me about it before posting
it to the list.
One final request - we are in election mode now, and we are getting
enough coverage through the mass media. Let's not allow politics to
intrude into this forum - unless of course someone has started an
Australian Birders' Party!
