Members of Birding NSW conducted the October Regent Honeyeater survey over the
week-end of Oct. 13/14.
We only located 2 Regents [on private property, I'm afraid], but what we
believe to be the 2nd record of a Crimson Chat in the valley [a male bird] was
sighted on Friday the 12th by Tony Peri on the Glen Davis Rd just past the main
entrance to Goollooinboin. We could not locate it again.
Perhaps needing confirmation, there was also a report of several Black-faced
Woodswallows on the Glen Alice- Rylstone road.
I heard a Cicada-bird across the river from the newish campsite on the Capertee
past Glen Davis in the Wollemi NP on the 14th.
Spotted Harriers were located at opposite ends of the valley, plus a
Chestnut-rumped Heathwren, and many of the 'usuals', residents and some
migrants [ such as Plum-headed Finches, Turquoise Parrots, WW Trillers,
Singing Bushlarks, Brown Songlarks, Speckled Warblers and a satisfying number
of Red-capped Robins, the latter mainly on private property.
