Thanks everyone for info on Oriental Plovers.
I'll just have to go to Broome at the right time of year next time!

Cheers
Dave

PS - Our Koel has moved in - just heard him call for the first time this season from the tree behind us in North Rocks Sydney which he stays in each year.

Oriental Plovers are common in the Kimberley during September and into October. There were 14 on the airstrip at Mt Barnett along the Gibb River Road last time I looked and there have been 2 resident at the sewage ponds for the last 3 weeks or so. Just about ran over one that was walking along the Gibb River Road as I drove home from Derby today.
