Well done Pat. Can I get you a Purple-crowned Lorikeet ?

miners.
I think I am the culprit on the 'Yellow-eared Miner' issue, just a slip
of the pen in the Round Hill report. They weren't Yellow-fronted Miners'
however - just plain old 'Yellow-throated'. Never heard of the
Yellow-fronted or have they been renamed 'Yellow-fronted' while I was
overseas? Clearly they are an unreliable bird, maybe in trouble with
the law and change names frequently. I've heard they sleep around quite
a bit, even with Black-throated (AKA Black-eared) Miners. Dirty dogs
both of them. Fits with their generally disreputable behaviour. I notice
Pizzey and Doyle (1982) referred to the species as a White-rumped Miner
so obviously no-one else cares two hoots what they are called.
Cheers
Pat
