Went on a walk and found 2 troops of superb fairy-wrens and one troop of variegated. The latter seemed to be squaring off with the former in an open area which was interesting. Anyone noticed if the nuptial plumaged males seem to be a bit quieter at times. I wondered whether they knew they were so visible. Was frustrated as the vfw male alighted about 1 m away while I tried to focus a 300mm lens on a far point and had to swing round (unsuccessfully). Also saw a thornbill (which I need to figure out) and a white eared honeyeater.
