I was camping at Hamelin Pool Caravan Park and went for a short walk
along a track eastwards (200 m?) along the backslope of the main shelly
dune. I reached the rubbish dump and heard this ringing sound as if
someone was hitting a bell every few seconds. It turned out to be two
TB grass wrens "attacking" their reflection in a stainless steel
cylinder that was lying on the ground! They did this for at least an
hour while I watched them and took video/photo etc.. There were many
other birds around including Southern Scrub Robin and the air was filled
with wedgebills calling. The location of the caravan park means you
don't have to go to travel to Monkey Mia (which also costs) if desperate
to see this bird.
