One Swift Parrot was heard yesterday at Prospect Rservoir (25/8/07) flying
out of a flowering eucalypt (one with pale bark and small red blossoms) in
the George Maunder picnic area during a CBOC outing. The swiftie was
possibly spooked by several Red Wattlebirds and Olive-backed Orioles that
were in the same tree. Unfortunately we failed to get a glimpse of the
Swiftie. It was probably feeding in this tree next to us as we were having
lunch without us noticing it. They can be remarkably quiet at times!

I have recorded Swift Parrots on an off from Prospect since about May this
year. There are still plenty of eucalypts in flower in the Prospect area and
other Swifties may be about till the end of Sept when they should be heading
back to Tassie.
