Hi Folks, I cut my seabirding teeth from landwatches based on Portland,
UK back in the 60's. However, having spent a good deal of my life at sea
& seabirding when I could, I can't compare the two, they each have their
merits though.
 
 But there is nothing like being out on the Continental Slope with the
East Australian Current running at 4 knots into a busy Sou-east swell
and the first Tahiti Petrel for the Spring zooming in on the slimy,
smelly sharks liver( just picture it will ya). Personally, if I don't
get out at least once a month, I get severe withdrawal symptoms & start
pining for the sea. Everyone thinks I'm mad anyway!! Cheers - Paul W.
