Hi Folks, I thought this would have been picked up by Queensland birders
by now, or maybe I'm the only one who gets the Sunday Mail. I refer to
this past Sunday Mail dated 19th August which had the first installment
of the 'Wild & Wonderful' (Wildlife Warriors) supplement, titled
'Australia & Oceania'.
On page 19 there is a photo, supposed to depict a Southern Giant Petrel
which is in fact an obvious adult Northern Giant Petrel on the nest.
Furthermore, in the same edition of the Sunday Mail there is an article
about a couple of Sunshine Coast wildlife carers pictured with a
rehabilitating Giant Petrel. Yep, you guessed it, the bird in question
is a Southern Giant Petrel - a juvenile. Cheers - Paul W.
