Sighted 9:10pm in large grey angophora just below southern end of
Glen Rd Roseville (Sydney North Shore) at notional intersection of
Findlay Ave alignment. High but clear views - see Birdline NSW report
for pic.
Calling for about 30 mins with occasional pauses. A single woof came
out like fingers were clamping nose shut, then back to normal woof-
woof. Then another considerably deeper single woof & then back to
normal woof-woof. A second owl occurred to me but both sounds from
the same place & no other seen in spotlight. Watched for 20mins or so
& then owl flew off silhouetted against loom of clouds, but followed
by a second similar shape that came from the same tree. Pair flew
northwest over Shirley Rd. Looks like they might be coming a fixture
with six contacts over past 3 weeks.

Valley. There are at least four locations in the valley where they
get reported from time to time. The pair that everyone looks for
behind the Glen Alice church haven't been seen there since around
2000, as far as I know. That was around the time I heard that one
of the birds was hit by a car on the bridge. They're still
regularly reported from the Glen Davis area, but I don't know of a
current roost site, unfortunately.
