Hi all
After several years gap I did a walk along Lady Carrington Drive last
Sat 18 Aug. 0730 to 1100 from the Audley end, in cool but fine
conditions before cloud rolled in during the last hour.
Highlights were:
Topknot Pigeon in for the cabbage tree palm fruit, one flock of 14 and
another of over 35
Wonga Pigeon (4)
Shining Bronze-cuckoo glimpsed and heard twice
Azure Kingfisher (3)
all 3 scrubwrens inc several Yellow-throateds and a pair of Large-billed
Grey Goshawk (1)
Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo (5)
Superb Lyrebirds were in fine form, 7 seen and another 5-6 heard. In
addition to displaying males, spent an hour watching a female
nest-building close to Jersey Springs, the bulky forward-tilted nest
perched on a large sandstone boulder amongst fairly thick understory of
grass trees.
Golden Whistler and Eastern Spinebill were both very vocal, great to see
up to 4 male whistlers in immediate proximity attempting to outgun each
other in the song stakes!
