Hi Peter,
Without want to undermine Point Hicks NP (it's a great place and has some great
birds!), however it isn't exactly one of the great Australian birding
destinations. I don't want to undermine the site, but if you are coming all the
way from Denmark to bird in Australia, Point Hicks NP wouldn't necessarily be
high on the itinerary. There's be many other reasons to go Point Hicks however
(friends nearby, the amazing environment, and the birds, etc), so you may have
this in mind.
Typically if you look at the list of any of Australia's major national parks
you will find that they have "half the state total" and a "third of Australia's
total bird". Victoria, for example, is only 3 percent of the Australian land
mass, yet well over half of Australia's total birds have been seen in that
state.
If birding is the main aim for your trip to Australia you may want to think
carefully about your itinerary. You may possibly be asking the wrong question.
Cheers,
Tim Dolby

Dear All ...
Greeting from the lovely summer Denmark.
I would kindly ask if some of you can supply me with
informations, incl. birdslist, for the national park near
Point Hicks. Been informed that the birds represent are
about half of Victoria's and a third of Australia's total
bird.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Best wishes,
Peter
